Specialist Leaders of Education
Specialist Leaders of Education (SLE) are leaders identified by the National College as being able to provide exceptional support to schools in need within their specialist areas.

Our SLE Team
Andy Ash is a primary school teacher with a Masters in Teaching and Learning. He works at a TSA based on Wirral offering support to other schools and local education establishments. Andy specialises in providing a learning environment for pupils that optimises metacognition and deep learning. He has undertaken in-depth action research into effective behaviour management and children's motivation, specifically focussing on how to maximise levels of intrinsic motivation. Andy also specialises in teaching mathematics in a Singaporean style, using textbooks to guide intelligent practice and teaching to mastery.
Amanda Maney, Director, Deep Learning TSA, is an Assistant Headteacher on the Wirral, with over 20 years’ experience teaching Primary children. Amanda is also an accredited Life Coach, is trained in Clean Learning, and is a published profiling trainer; she is experienced in training staff, developing leadership, establishing a co coaching culture for staff and children alike and enabling systemic whole school improvement, Amanda is an accredited AAMET EFT Practitioner and uses this alongside NLP skills to develop behaviour for learning; enhancing understanding and empowering children and staff to optimise attitudes and mind set to raise aspirations and achievement.
Ryan Neal is a primary school teacher and Maths Coordinator at a Wirral primary school. Ryan specialises in teaching mathematics in a Singaporean style, using textbooks to guide intelligent practise and teaching to mastery. He leads and promotes the development of whole school mathematics, exemplifying excellent classroom practise and AfL techniques whilst integrating the Singaporean method into the school's learning culture. He works with a TSA, based on Wirral, offering training, coaching and support to other primary schools and local education establishments.
Clare Peers is a primary school teacher and senior leader as well as the Foundation Stage Leader at a Wirral primary school. She is also a Lead Mentor for ITT and moderates, trains and organises students and placements with a consortium of schools. Clare specialises in raising attainment and achievement in Early Years and has had nine years’ experience in this area. She leads and develops aspects of continuous provision, phonics and child initiated learning. Clare has supported other schools and has helped an early years setting move from being in special measures to good. She works with a TSA, based on Wirral, offering support to other schools and local education establishments.
Vicky Yates is a primary school teacher and senior leader as well as the Literacy co-ordinator at a Wirral primary school. Vicky specialises in raising attainment and achievement in English at KS1 and 2. She leads and promotes the development of whole school literacy and can advise on strategies that support rapid progress in English. She can provide support with creating innovative schemes of work, assessing student progress and assessment for learning. She works with a TSA, based on Wirral, offering support to other schools and local education establishments.
